Criminology Colleges

Tuesday, February 17, 2009 posted by Lance Stokes

If you’ve always had an interest in crime, public policy, and problem-solving, then consider attending a criminology college and majoring in criminal justice or criminology. Criminal justice is one of the most popular pre-law majors, and criminology colleges equip students with the analytical skills and information they need to appreciate the intricacies of the legal system.

If you want to practice criminal law, or are considering a career in law enforcement (police officer, airport security staff), or policy making and administration, obtaining a criminology degree is a good place to start. In fact, a good criminal justice program at accredited criminology colleges will prepare you for a good number of careers. The criminal justice program will also emphasize the development of logical reasoning, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities, all of which can be used in any field. Criminology colleges offer several courses including criminal psychology, the penal system, criminal justice, and special topics on counter-terrorism.
