Becoming an FBI Agent can be a challenging, exciting, and rewarding experience. Every day is something new, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations is one of the most well-known government agencies in existence.

FBI Agents are responsible for conducting investigations and enforcing federal statutes. As an agent you can work on issues pertaining to terrorism, cyber crime, organized crime, white-collar crime, civil rights violations, financial crime, bribery, kidnapping, extortion, air piracy, drug-trafficking matters, counterintelligence, and other violations of federal statutes. FBI agents are kept busy around the clock and take their jobs very seriously.

In order to qualify to become an FBI Agent you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be a U.S. Citizen or a citizen of the Northern Mariana Islands
  2. Must be at least 23, but younger than 37 years of age
  3. Must have a 4 year degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institutions
  4. Must have 3 years of professional work experience.
  5. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be available for assignment anywhere in the FBI’s jurisdiction.
  6. As an application, you must qualify under one of the 5 Special Agent Entry Programs; Accounting, Computer Science/Information Technology, Language, Law, Diversified

Upon meeting those qualifications, you will be required to complete an application, pass a drug test and background check, and pass a physical and psychological exam. There were also be at least one interview with a current agent or senior member of staff.

If all goes well, you will be on your way to becoming a special agent in no time!
