I love to watch CSI, NCIS, Law and Order, and all of those other prime-time crime-solving dramas on TV. Since watching it, I have become extremely interested in the field of forensics. My favorite characters on these shows aren’t necessarily the people who are the stars (these are usually the detectives), but the people in the labs. They are the ones that analyze the data and help to put the pieces of the puzzle together in order to solve a crime.

I’m rather tech-savvy, so I felt that traditional forensics may not be what I had in mind as an ideal career (I don’t do well with blood.) Fortunately, I did find the college degree that was more my speed and still keep me in the action of crime-solving: a Computer Forensics Degree Online.

A person who works in computer forensics studies and analyzes electronic data from computers and other technologies, recovers “lost data” and basically does a lot of the same work a traditional forensics person may do, but with memory cards, thumb drives, and computer hardware. (There’s usually less blood involved in that).

By enrolling in computer forensics degree online, students will study:

cybercrime

intrusion detection systems

legal basics

criminal law

computer operating systems

Computer Forensics Degree online programs can be found at almost all levels: Associates, Bachelor’s, Masters, and certificate programs. The higher the level of study, the more in-depth in computer forensics the program becomes. The higher the degree, the more opportunities for advancement within the field!

Computer forensics is an exciting and tech-savvy field with numerous career opportunities.

Imagine a career where one can mix the world of accounting with the exciting and engaging career of a detective. While it may seem like an odd combination, forensic accountants get the opportunity to help solve cases through forensic accounting training. If this sounds like an appealing career, consider earning a forensic accounting certificate.

Forensic accounting is also known as “investigative accounting” and forensic accounting certificate holders can be called upon to research and investigate a variety of issues that can be used as evidence in criminal and civil cases. Some of the items that forensic accounting certificate recipients investigate include property loss, income loss, employee dishonesty, wrongful death claims, divorce/fidelity claims, and fraud. Upon wrapping up their investigation, forensic accountants can compile their findings and make their statements in a court of law.

To work as a forensic accountant, CPA certification and licensing is also required. Certification in forensic accounting can be earned by way of the Forensic Examiner Diplomat or the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation. By becoming a CFE, it is shown that the person is an expert in fraud investigation, detection and prevention. After one completes a bachelor’s degree in accounting and passes the CFE exam, are they able to apply for CFE licensing.
A forensic accounting certificate can help you start your exciting and investigative career as a forensic accountant. Upon earning your certification can you begin seeking out careers in resolving a variety of issues and become a very unique kind of detective.

We are living in a time of massive financial crisis. Banks were using investments placed within their institution in good faith, in order to place risky bets against themselves. Not only that, but they are believed to have been misreporting their annual profits, leaving a huge gap in what was currently within the market, and what numbers were used in order to place stock within that same market.

It is now the job of forensic accountants working for major regulatory agencies to sort of the mess, to find out what was done, and how to keep it from happening again. If this seems like something you would be interested in doing, you need a forensic accounting degree.

How Can I Get a Forensic Accounting Degree?

You can get this degree through any finance-based school, or you can get it through an online adapted program through those same – or other – schools. The benefit of an online school is that you will get to work your way through the program from home, in your own time. You can also choose a combination study of online and offline degrees.

Learn about how you can make as much as $80,000 a year with a financial accounting degree.

These are courses designed to get you a science degree related to crime solving, specifically to learn the details of a crime through the study of human remains and evidence. Shows like CSI, Bones and NCIS have made this profession increasingly popular, with many wanting to learn to work with crime scene evidence to bring down the bad guys. While television exaggerates the details of the job, it is nevertheless a fascinating career.

What Can I Do With Forensic Science Classes?

The choices are surprisingly broad. You can become a criminologist and work in a lab, deciphering evidence there. You can work as an entomologist, studying insects near human remains that might give some clues to the cause of death. You can use anthropology or archeology to study skeletons for evidence…the possibilities are pretty endless.

How Much Can I Make With Forensic Science Classes?

A survey done in 2007 gave an average salary potential of just under $46,700 per year for a forensic scientist. This has gone up by a marginal fraction since then, despite the recession, and closer to $48,000 is possible. Larger cities where there is more demand may pay higher.

Upholding the law is not the easiest job but many people still find great satisfaction in doing it. If you are one of these people, you will want to study in one of the colleges for law enforcement in the nation today. What can these colleges for law enforcement offer you in terms of programs? How will they help you keep the world safe and far from anarchy?

Colleges for law enforcement can help you become a lawyer, policeman, homeland security officer, paralegal, legal assistant, detective, court reporter, bailiff, customs agent, FBI agent, private investigator, sheriff, and warden among others. If you are interested in this career path, colleges for law enforcement will definitely help you.

Some of these colleges for law enforcement have programs specifically for those who are keen on being an officer of the law. But there are also colleges for law enforcement that also offer non-legal programs. Usually, they will offer post-secondary courses for those interested in becoming lawyers, paralegals, court reporters, and others.

Because law enforcement is such a diverse field, it is only natural that the salary of those who help uphold the law varies. Some of the best lawyers earn 6-figure incomes in one year. But this is not without putting in long hours and studying very hard to pass the bar exam before that. Police officers, on the other hand, earn an average of $49,630 a year. Their supervisors and managers can earn up to more than $72,000 in one year.

In terms of employment opportunities, you can find work in the FBI, the US Drug Enforcement Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, and the US Secret Service. Of course, you can also work for a law firm or establish your own practice if you become a lawyer.
