I love to watch CSI, NCIS, Law and Order, and all of those other prime-time crime-solving dramas on TV. Since watching it, I have become extremely interested in the field of forensics. My favorite characters on these shows aren’t necessarily the people who are the stars (these are usually the detectives), but the people in the labs. They are the ones that analyze the data and help to put the pieces of the puzzle together in order to solve a crime.
I’m rather tech-savvy, so I felt that traditional forensics may not be what I had in mind as an ideal career (I don’t do well with blood.) Fortunately, I did find the college degree that was more my speed and still keep me in the action of crime-solving: a Computer Forensics Degree Online.
A person who works in computer forensics studies and analyzes electronic data from computers and other technologies, recovers “lost data” and basically does a lot of the same work a traditional forensics person may do, but with memory cards, thumb drives, and computer hardware. (There’s usually less blood involved in that).
By enrolling in computer forensics degree online, students will study:
- cybercrime
- intrusion detection systems
- legal basics
- criminal law
- computer operating systems
- technical writing
- statistics
- economics courses
Computer Forensics Degree online programs can be found at almost all levels: Associates, Bachelor’s, Masters, and certificate programs. The higher the level of study, the more in-depth in computer forensics the program becomes. The higher the degree, the more opportunities for advancement within the field!
Computer forensics is an exciting and tech-savvy field with numerous career opportunities.
